DIRECTIVE of ERCIYES UNIVERSITY FOR THE APPLICATION, REGISTRATION AND ADMISSION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

SECTION ONE

Aim, Scope, Basis and Definitions

Aim and Scope
Article 1 -
 The aim and scope of this Directive is to regulate the conditions of application, registration and admission of foreign students to Erciyes University within the foreign student quotas allocated for the departments and programs of faculties and schools specified by the Council of Higher Education.

Basis
Article 2 - This Directive has been prepared based on the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education Article No. B.30.0.EÖB.000.00.01-06-383-3269 dated 27/01/2010.

Definitions and Abbreviations
Article 3 –
In this Directive following terms refer to;

a) University: Erciyes University,
b) Rectorate: Erciyes University Rectorate,
c) Foreign students: Prospective students who graduated from a school equivalent to Turkish high schools, however who aren’t citizens of the Republic of Türkiye and the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus), or who hold dual citizenship, one of which is not the citizenship of the Republic of Türkiye and the TRNC.
d) Foreign Students Admission Commission: Under the chairmanship of a Vice Rector, Commission consists of a representative of the International Office responsible for the foreign student admission and educational affairs.


SECTION TWO

Application, Required Documents, Evaluation, Educational Conditions and Registration Application and Required Documents
Article 4 -

(a) Information on the applications is announced on the website of our University in June every year. The applications are made online on the website on the dates specified in the announcement. For the placement in the foreign student quota of the university; the exam types specified in the Article 5 of this directive and the decisions of the Council of Higher Education are taken into consideration.

(b) Those who get the determined base score and above can apply for the quotas. The status of applicants applying with exam results that are not specified in the directive will be evaluated by the commission.

(c) Applications are made online with the following documents:
1- High School Diploma: a certified copy of the high school diploma, a notary or consulate certified copy translated into Turkish. (High school seniors must certify that they are senior students.)
2- Official Transcript: It shows the courses and the grades that the applicants have taken in high school. Official transcripts certified by the relevant high school administration and certified Turkish translation are required.
3- The original or translated certified copy of the exam result paper for the relevant year.
4- The photocopy of the passport page showing the identity information,
5-Bank receipt showing that the application fee is paid.

Base Scores for the Application

Article 5 - (1)

(1) The applicants should have the base scores of the following exams and meet the conditions below:

a) At least 1000 total points from SAT 1, at least 500 points in Mathematics,
b) At least 21 points in ACT (American College Testing) Mixed, Mathematics and Scientific Logic,
c) In the GCE (General Certificate Examination / A Level Certificate), at least 3 A level Certificates, one of which is related to the program applied for,
d) Those who have an I.B. (International Baccalaureate) Diploma and have a diploma grade of at least 28 depending on the department to which they will apply,
e) A maximum of 4 points from the ABITUR exam (German Baccalaureate),
f) Those who have a French Baccalaureate diploma and have a diploma grade of at least 12/20,
g) From the TAWJÎHİ exam held in Jordan and Palestine, exam results of at least 80 points out of 100 from all courses in the field of Science (Scientific Stream)
h) Those who have a diploma grade of at least 14/20 in the Field of Science (Scientific Stream) in the Baccalaureate Lebanese exam held in Lebanon,
i) AL-SAHADA-AL TAHANAWİYYA (Syria, Libya Baccalaureate), in the Field of Science (Scientific Stream), 180 points out of 240 for the Departments of the Faculties of Engineering and Architecture and at least 170 points for the other departments,
j) In the university entrance exam held in the People's Republic of China (GAOKAO), at least 480 points out of 750 in the score type of the program applied for.
k) A minimum score of 50 in the Turkish Republics and the Turks and Related Communities Exam (TCS),
l) Gold, silver or bronze medal winners in the International Science Olympics, recognized and attended by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Türkiye),
m) Diplome Debirestan and Pishdaneshgahi (Iran); High school diploma grade average (Diplome Debirestan) of at least 17/20 and the “Pisdanesgahi” grade of at least 17/20 in Iran,
n) A minimum score of 90 out of 120 in Kazakhstan National University Test,;
o) A minimum score of 60 in the Uan (Ujian Akhir Nasional) exam held in Indonesia,
p) Those taking valid scores from the university entrance exams held by the Center for Evaluation, Selection and Placement.
(2) The base scores of the examinations which are not mentioned above will be decided by the commission.
(3) The applicants who apply to the faculties and colleges admitting students according to the result of the Special Talent Exam are also given a “Special Talent Exam”.

Evaluation of Applications
Article 6 (a)
 Evaluation, admission and department/program placement procedures of the applicants applying to Erciyes University foreign student quota are carried out by the commission. The university is free to fill or not to fill the announced quotas. Meeting the application requirements does not guarantee admission to the programs. Applications of those who do not meet the requirements for application will not be evaluated. The registrations of those who do not meet the requirements for application will be cancelled. If required, additional quotas can be announced.
(b) Assessment of the applications to the University units which accept students with special talent exam is carried out according to the criteria in the special talent exam application, registration and admission directive of the relevant faculty/school.
(c) A "letter of admission" or an identical certificate is issued for the students who are entitled to admission.

Announcement of the Results and Registration
Article 7

(a) The application results are announced online on the University’s web page (www.erciyes.edu.tr).
 (b) A letter of acceptance will be sent by the Rectorate to the applicants who are entitled to enroll in the university.
(c) Registration procedures are carried out at the University Registrar’s Office on the dates announced on the university’s web page.
(d) Applicants or incoming students apply to the Foreign Students Office within the International Office in order to exchange information on different subjects.

Documents required for registration
Article 8
- Following documents are required for the registration:
(a) The original high school diploma and an "Equivalence Certificate" from Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their countries or from the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye demonstrating that the relevant high school diploma is equivalent to the Turkish High School Diploma.
(b) The original exam result paper,
(c) The original passport and its notarized photocopy translated into Turkish,
(d) The bank receipt showing that the contribution fee has been paid in the announced amount into the bank specified in the announcement,
(e) The applicants coming from outside Türkiye, will take a "Student Visa" from the Turkish representative offices in their own countries or from the nearest offices; if the applicants are in Türkiye, they will receive this visa from the Provincial Directorate of Security,
(f) The original document of internationally recognized Foreign Language – Turkish proficiency certificate certified by the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their countries,
(g) Residence permit,
(h) Foreign Nationals Identification Number,
(i) 2 photos 4,5 x 6,0 in size (Photos need to be taken in the last 6 months, from the front, and in a way to enable the applicant to be clearly recognized),

Turkish proficiency levels
Article 9
(a) Turkish proficiency levels,
Level A1: (Basic Level) insufficient- can't start education
Level A2: (Basic Level) insufficient- can't start education
Level B1: (Intermediate) insufficient- can't start education
Level B2: (Intermediate) insufficient- can't start education
Level C1: (Advanced) This Turkish level is sufficient. Students can start education.

Those whose Turkish level is A1, A2, B1 and B2 register for the program, but they can't start their department until they have level C1. They are granted leave of absence for one year in order to achieve Turkish proficiency C1 level. Except those applying to the departments that provide foreign language education.

(b) Those who receive the C1 level Turkish proficiency certificate at the end of one year will submit it to the Department of Student Affairs before the Academic Year begins. Those who are unable to get C1 level Turkish proficiency certificate or who fail the Turkish proficiency exam given by our University will be given one more year. If they fail in the second year, they will be dismissed from the university.

(c) Language education period is not considered as a part of the academic education period of the department in which the student will enroll. During this period, the student is obliged to pay the course fee determined by the Senate.

Medium of Instruction and Foreign Language Preparatory Education

Article 10 -

(a) Medium of instruction of Erciyes University is Turkish

(b) Those with at least C1 level Turkish proficiency level at the end of the preparatory class education start their education

SECTION THREE

Miscellaneous and Final Provisions Other Provisions:

Article 11

(a) About the matters that are not regulated in this directive, foreign students are subject to the regulations and directives regarding the education of the department in which they are enrolled.
(b) Academic Degrees given at Erciyes University are the same as the degrees given to the students from the Republic of Türkiye.
(c) The application calendar is determined for each academic year within the framework of the quota of students coming to Erciyes University from abroad and is specified in the Academic Calendar of the University. The Presidency of the Council of Higher Education is informed about the students who have been registered.

Validity
Article 13 - The provisions of this Directive come into force as of the date of approval by the University Senate.

Implementation
 Article 14 – The provisions of this Directive are implemented by the Rector of Erciyes University.
