BRIEF HISTORY
Faculty of Theology was founded on December 16, 1965, un-
der the name of the High Islamic Institute within the General
Directory of Religious Teaching of the Ministry of Education.
After 17 years as an institute offering 4-year degree courses, it
joined Erciyes University as Faculty of Theology, according to
Decree-Law (41), dated July 20, 1982.

During its founding years, four service buildings and liv-
ing accommodations were built on a 140-acre piece of land
with the financial and moral support of local benefactors. In
FACULTIES 1998, a new building was built by Izzet Bayraktar. Our faculty
is housed in a 12,000 square-meter facility. In total 2566 stu-
dents are enrolled at our faculty both in daytime and evening
classes.
