nolaryngology, Orthopedics, Urology, Brain Surgery, Chest
Diseases, Chest-Cardiovascular Surgery, Plastic and Recon-
structive Surgery, Pediatric Surgery Units.
If those who have completed the Operating Room Services
program are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS)
conducted by OSYM; they can switch to Emergency Aid and
Disaster Management Undergraduate Programs.
Radiotherapy Program
In this program, qualified Health Technicians working under
the supervision of specialist physicians are educated in the
field of radiotherapy, which is an important treatment meth-
od in cancer treatment. The task of the Health Technician is to
apply ionizing radiation therapy according to the directions of
the radiotherapy specialist and the measurements and calcu-
lations of the health physicist and / or specialist.
The duties of Health Technicians are as follows; opening the
devices to be used during the day, making them ready to work
by calibration, applying the ionizing beam therapy according
to the measurements and calculations of the radiation physi-
cian’s specialist and radiation physicist (if not the specialist),
keeping the polyclinic and protocol book regularly, preparing
the medical statistics, ensuring the maintenance, storage and
proper operation of the devices, informing the chief or expert
as soon as possible of the problems.
Radiotherapy educating is two years at the associate degree
level. In the first year, theoretical courses and in the second
year, mostly applied education is given. Students perform
their applied education in the Oncology, Radiotherapy, Radi-
ology and Nuclear Medicine units of Erciyes University Hospi-
tal. Those who complete the program are awarded Associate
Degree and Health Technician titles. Graduates can work in
University, State and Private Hospitals.If those who have com-
pleted the Radiotherapy program are successful in the Verti-
cal Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by OSYM; they can switch
to Nursing, Nursing and Health Services Undergraduate Pro-
grams.
