2023 TUBA International Academy Awards, conducted under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, found their owners. Within the scope of the awards, Prof. Dr. Derviş Karaboğa, a faculty member of our university, was deemed worthy of the award.

As part of TUBA’s mission of encouraging and appreciating scientists, a total of 3 scientists were awarded in 2 categories: Health and Life Sciences and Science and Engineering Sciences, for the 2023 TUBA International Academy Awards, open to all scientists in the world.

Within the scope of the awards in the category of Science and Engineering Sciences, Prof. Dr. Derviş Karaboğa, a faculty member at the Department of Computer Engineering/Faculty of Engineering and Director of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Application and Research Center, deserved to receive the 2023 TUBA International Academy Award for making significant contributions to the world of science and the advancement of technologies especially by developing the “Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm”, an optimization algorithm used in artificial intelligence applications in the field of Engineering Sciences and also for applying his studies in the area of artificial intelligence to the fields of Energy Efficiency and Health and making original contributions to these fields.

He will be presented with his award by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at TUBA-TUBITAK Scientific Awards Ceremony.
