Erciyes University Ranked Among the World’s Best Universities in THE 2026 Interdisciplinary Science Rankings
The results of the 2026 Interdisciplinary Science Rankings (ISR), conducted for the first time this year by Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world’s most prestigious university ranking organizations, have been announced.
Initiated together with the Schmidt Science Fellows and featuring the first ranking system created to measure universities’ contributions to interdisciplinary science, the THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings has revealed a significant success for Erciyes University. In this international ranking, which includes 911 universities from 94 countries worldwide, our university ranked 132nd among world universities, while placing 5th among public universities at the national level.

We will continue to support scientific production through collective wisdom, our advanced research infrastructure, and international collaborations. The methodology of the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings consists of 11 indicators, grouped into three sections—inputs, processes, and outputs—each representing stages in the project development cycle of research activities. The inputs section (19%) is represented by indicators of interdisciplinary scientific research funding (8%) and industry funding (11%). The processes section (16%) consists of data related to performance measures (4%), physical facilities (4%), administrative support (4%), and promotion processes (4%). The outputs section (65%) is scored based on the number of interdisciplinary scientific research publications (10%), the proportion of interdisciplinary scientific research publications (5%), out-of-discipline impact (5%), the quality of interdisciplinary scientific research (20%), and reputation indicators (25%).
