FACULTY OF SCIENCES
From the beginning of the 2010-2011 academic year, peda-
gogical formation lessons are available for students. The de-
partments which will benefit from this programme are as fol-
lows: biology, physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

Biology Department
The biology department, founded in 1991, has 22 academic
staff, including 11 professors, five associate professors, one as-
sistant professor, two experts, and three research assistants.
Laboratory opportunities are continually improving and
research projects carried out in the field such as plant and
animal systematics, physiology, biochemistry, biological war-
fare, ecology, genetic engineering, hydrobiology, microbiol-
ogy, and molecular biology. Classrooms and laboratories are
equipped with the latest in laboratory equipment, computers,
and projectors.
Physics Department
Physics offers students the opportunity to understand the fun-
damental laws of nature. The Department of Physics, which
has 24 members of academic staff consisting of 14 professors,
six associate professors, an assistant professor, an instructor, a
research assistant and an expert currently, was formally com-
menced to education in 1984. Master’s and Doctoral programs
are also available in physics through the Institute of Science.
The research interest of the department extend over most
branches of Material Science and of Theoretical Physics as well
as some aspects of Solid State Physics, including the study of
the properties of a wide range of materials. Theoretical stud-
ies include the calculation of structural and electronic prop-
