International Success of Prof. Dr. Gökmen ZARARSIZ
The project of the LysMitoPAD consortium entitled, “Spatiotemporal Organelle Dynamics in Early Neurodegeneration: Cell Type and Disease Specificity in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Disease”, which is conducted under the coordination of German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases and in partnership with Erciyes University, Pasteur Institute, Imagine Institute and Amsterdam University Medical Center, has been entitled to be supported with a budget of €1.262.888 as part of the EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND).
In this project, in which Prof. Dr. Gökmen ZARARSIZ, a faculty member at the Department of Biostatistics/ERU Faculty of Medicine, is a partner in Türkiye, cell type-specific changes in lysosomal and mitochondrial function in the early stages of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases and their effects on the progression of diseases will be investigated. As part of the consortium, bioinformatics analyses including proteomics, lipidomics, RNA-sequencing and multi-omics analyses to be obtained from patient tissues and cellular models will be conducted by the Individual Medicine and Advanced Analytics Research Group led by Prof. Dr. Gökmen Zararsız at Erciyes University Drug Application and Research Center. In addition to Prof. Dr. Gökmen ZARARSIZ, Assoc. Prof. Vahap ELDEM, a faculty member at Istanbul University/ Faculty of Science/Department of Biology, Assoc. Prof. Gözde ERTÜRK ZARARSIZ, a faculty member at ERU/Faculty of Medicine/Department of Biostatistics, Lect. Dr. Ahu Cephe (ERU Rectorate) and Postdoctoral Researcher Dr. Leila KIANMEHR will participate in the project as researchers.
