Hosted by our university, a ceremony was held on the occasion of Nowruz, the harbinger of spring.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun, our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Oktay Özkan and Prof. Dr. M. Hakan Poyrazoğlu, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Assoc. Prof. Şükrü Dursun, our Secretary General Prof. Dr. İbrahim Narin, our Assistant Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Afşın Alper Cerit, Executive Board Member of Kayseri Chamber of Commerce Şevket Uyar, Chairman of Chamber of Merchants and Craftsmen Şeyhi Odakır, Deans of Faculties, academics, and students attended the event held at Sabancı Cultural Complex.

During the event that started with a moment of silence, the singing of the Turkish National Anthem, and the Metropolitan Municipality Mehter Band’s concert, folk dances team performed local dances.

Then, the event continued with the flag show of the students coming from the Turkic Republics and studying at our University, and a stage performance of Turkish heroes’ costumes in Dedem Korkut stories prepared by Kocasinan Advanced Technical School.

The Nowruz bonfire was lit, and the protocol members jumped over the bonfire.

The event ended after hammering iron on the anvil, tapping the painted eggs, and presenting awards to the winners of tug-of-war and sack competitions.
