Panel on the “Armenian Issue from the Ottoman Empire to the Present”

A panel on the “Armenian Issue from the Ottoman Empire to the Present” was held at the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Education.

Prof. Dr. Hasan Babacan (Faculty of Arts and Science/Mehmet Akif Ersoy University/Burdur) and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çolak (Faculty of Political Sciences/Samsun University) were the panelists of the panel discussion moderated by Prof. Dr. Remzi Kılıç.

Our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hakan Poyrazoğlu, Prof. Dr. Cevdet Kırpık, a faculty member at the Faculty of Education and Advisor to the Rector, academics, and students attended the panel.

Vice Rector Professor Poyrazoğlu thanked those who contributed to the organization of the event.

Prof. Dr. Cevdet Kırpık, who stated that the Armenian issue was inherited from the Ottoman Empire, said that they invited the experts in the field to Erciyes University in order to inform the students about this issue. He added: “Although this issue has not been in the public eye much lately, our students may encounter it in the coming years and be exposed to the questions of their students. Therefore, we organized this event.”

After opening speeches, the panel discussion started.

First, Prof. Dr. Hasan Babacan made a presentation on “The Birth of Armenian Issue and Deportation”.

Then, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çolak talked about “The Reflection of Armenian Issue on the Western Public Opinion”.

Prof. Dr. Hakan Poyrazoğlu and Prof. Dr. Cevdet Kırpık thanked Prof. Dr. Hasan Babacan and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çolak for their participation in the panel and presented them with plaques.
