Conference on One Health Concept: Rabies in People and Animals

The ERU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine organized a conference on One Health Concept: Rabies in People and Animals as part of the World Animal Day.

Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Prof. Dr. Murat Kambur, Chairman of Kayseri Chamber of Veterinarians Akgün Ergül, academics and students attended the event held at the Conference Hall of the faculty.

Making a speech during the conference, Akgün Ergül said: “It is crucial to talk about rabies on the World Animal Day as part of one health. Rabies is an issue that should be taken into consideration for our profession.”

Dean Prof. Dr. Murat Kambur said: “We wanted to address the issue in detail especially on the World Animal Day to emphasize the dangers of rabies once again. Rabies is a fatal disease and studies show that rabies in humans is usually caused by dog bites.

Following the opening speeches, Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Ulu Kılıç, a faculty member at the ERU Faculty of Medicine, talked about the “Rabies in People”. She gave information about the effects of rabies on human health and the measures to be taken.

Asst. Prof. İbrahim Sözdutmaz, a faculty member at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, talked about the “Rabies in Animals”. He informed the participants about the spread of rabies and the measures to be taken to prevent it.
