Erciyes University participated in the 9th ISIF'24 International Invention Fair organized by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TURKPATENT) on October 2-6, 2024.
A total of 354 inventions, 298 national and 56 international, from 16 countries were exhibited at the fair organized at TEKNOFEST in Adana. All inventions were evaluated by the International Jury Board consisting of experts in their fields and the awards were presented to the winners by Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Kasım Gönüllü and TURKPATENT President Prof. Dr. M. Zeki Durak.
Erciyes University, which exhibited 10 of the inventions in its portfolio, was awarded a total of 6 medals, including one gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
Prof. Dr. Bekir Aktaş and Asst. Prof. Ferhat Çeçen were awarded the gold medal for their invention entitled “Non-prestressed, Solid, Sustainable Concrete Sleeper without Stirrups which prevents Resonance Damage”.
Prof. Dr. Munis Dündar and Prof. Dr. Semih Yılmaz’s invention entitled “Real-time On-pack Monitoring of Fresh Cut Fruits and Vegetables Throughout Their Shelf Life”, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Arı and Dr. Mehmet Yükseksöylemez’s invention called “Bismuth (III) Oxide Solid Electrolyte Material with Lanthanide (III) Oxide Additive” and Lecturer Zafer Türkmen’s invention entitled “A Suspension System” were awarded the silver medal.
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Serdar Önses and Neslihan Törün’s invention called “Production of Polymer Thin Film Based Physically Non-cloneable Security Labels” and Prof. Dr. Gamze Genç, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Serdar Genç, Esra Bayır, Fidan Büşra Gürsoy, Mustafa Burhaneddin Göçlü, Onur Yılmaz and Tuna Murat Bodur’s invention entitled “Electronically Controlled Mechanical Valve” were awarded the bronze medal.
“Our Patents attracted the attention of Investors”
A limited number of inventions, specially selected among the 354 inventions exhibited at the ISIF'24-International Patent Fair, which stood out not only as an area where inventions were exhibited but also by bringing together many investors around the world to enable their commercialization and transformation into value-added products, were introduced to investors at a special session where international investors also attended, and presentations for investors were made.
Among the patents exhibited by ERU at the fair, two of them that had the opportunity to make presentations for investors at a special panel in which the international investors participated were as follows:
- Invention by Prof. Dr. Bekir Aktaş and Asst. Prof. Ferhat Çeçen entitled “Non-prestressed, Solid, Sustainable Concrete Sleeper without Stirrups which prevents Resonance Damage”, which was entitled to an award at the 3rd Universities Patent Competition
- Invention by Prof. Dr. Gamze Genç, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Serdar Genç, Esra Bayır, Fidan Büşra Gürsoy, Mustafa Burhaneddin Göçlü, Onur Yılmaz and Tuna Murat Bodur entitled “Electronically Controlled Mechanical Valve”, the research of which was conducted on domestic respiratory devices with the support of ERU BAP project and TUBITAK STAR scholarship during the Covid-19 pandemic and which has a wide range of application area in various fields of industry.
Rector Altun visited the Erciyes Technopark stand at the festival and said: “Our university has applied for over two hundred fifty patents over the past decade and more than a hundred of them have been registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. Of these patents, we have commercialized a total of 11 patents, 9 of them through license and 2 through transfer and brought them together with the industry. ISIF'24 International Patent Fair, which is influential in introducing inventions and bringing them together with investors and attracts great attention in the field of technology and innovation, is very valuable for us in terms of opening doors for potential collaborations. These inventions by Erciyes University based on scientific research have once again proved that ERU is taking firm steps towards becoming one of Türkiye's rising values in the field of innovation and technology with its success at national and international platforms.”
