Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education, participated in the opening ceremony of the artwork symbolizing the artificial bee colony algorithm.
Besides Professor Özvar, Governor of Kayseri Gökmen Çiçek, former Minister of National Defense and Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Hulusi Akar, AK Party Kayseri Deputy Dursun Ataş, Executive Board Members of the Council of Higher Education, Rectors of Member Universities of the Anatolian Universities Association and academics attended the opening ceremony held at the Faculty of Engineering.
ERU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun touched upon the importance of the Artificial Bee Colony algorithm project and thanked Prof. Dr. Derviş Karaboğa for his contribution.
The Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm, developed at the Department of Computer Engineering/ERU Faculty of Engineering, attracts the attention of scientists. This algorithm, which was introduced to the literature in 2005 thanks to the studies conducted by Prof. Dr. Derviş Karaboğa, a faculty member at the ERU Faculty of Engineering and Member of the Council of Higher Education, and which stands out in the field of artificial intelligence optimization, was entitled to receive outstanding science awards in Türkiye.
This biologically inspired artificial intelligence algorithm is inspired by the natural behaviors of bees. Like bees that minimize energy consumption by detecting the location of flowers, the ABC algorithm aims to produce innovative and efficient solutions through the “waggle dance”.
